Who you are dealing with

What I did before this

I fixed computers at my university. Then ten years in the airlines. These days I maintain high-speed mail-sorting machines: the belts, the bearings and the rollers that wear out, the electrical fault that stopped the line at four in the morning.

That equipment is decades old and it has to keep running anyway. Somebody has to find the fault and fix it before the mail piles up.

That is most of this job too. A website is a machine that runs all night without you watching it. Sometimes it stops. Somebody has to know where to look. I am comfortable with that. It is what I have always done.

Why a one-person shop is not a risk

Somebody will warn you about hiring one person. Here is my answer.

You always know how it is going

While I build your site, you have a private page of your own, and my work shows up on it as it happens. You do not have to email me and ask.

You always know who you are talking to

The person who quotes your job builds your job and answers when something breaks. Nothing gets lost between a salesperson and a developer, because there is neither.

The work is yours

Your site, your files, your web address, in your name. If you ever want to take it to somebody else, you can, and I will help you move it.

I answer, and I say no

You get a reply within one business day. If the machines I keep running for my day job have other ideas, you will hear that from me too. And if your job needs something bigger than me, I say so in the first email instead of taking your money and struggling.
